ADVENTURE TRAINING CAMP SERIES

EXPLORING BOUNDARIES

One year and four camps - with the aim of boosting mental health,  physical readiness, being in good company and learning new skills.

The adventure training series takes place once every season and focuses on learning the activities available at this time of the year and thereby achieving personal well-being.

  • Autumn brings us bonfires, solo canoeing skills, bog wildness and self-preservation tips and tricks. We add the Nordic joy of life - smoke sauna. Registration is open here.

  • In winter, we focus on skiing and its different landscapes, starting with cross-country and ending with touring skis, in order to enjoy the different perspectives that come with them.

  • In spring, we climb the heights (climbing lessons with instructors) and bloom with nature - we are on the tracks that touch the heart and relationships.

THOUGHT

The exploring boundaries adventure therapy weekends are for people who feel that the way to "survive" both mentally and physically in todays chaotic and rapidly changing world  is to push their personal boundaries.  The instructors are the best specialists in their field -  trainers of outdoor activities and instructors whose daily work is to offer people self-development through life-changing experiences, self-transcendence through comfort zone mapping and therapeutic effect through  a safe environment creation. The camp has created all the possibilities for this. Physical activities are always accompanied by a discussion circle to see what's happening inside - self-care, relationships and mental health.

Adventure training sessions take place in various locations across Estonia, and if possible, we add new events to the agenda with activities that have arisen.

WHO WE ARE

The creators of the training series are Hiking Guides, Mothers and Women who have reached the same point through their very different life paths - with an urgent need to draw strength from nature and adventures in order to be the best versions of themselves. This experience also gives courage to offer a similar experience to others - a safe space for pushing boundaries and the therapeutic effect of adventures and nature. We cooperate with the most powerful minds in our field, in whom we know that in addition to high-quality activities, trainers are also empathic and understand the needs of human nature.

mariell

I am Mariell Jüssi, an adventure activities instructor and one of the most respected water tour guides in Estonia. Having been born in the late 80s into a family of naturalists, where babies are always on the back or in the boat, it is difficult to draw a line where coping with outdoor activities and conditions began in my life. At the same time, I started training as an instructor for guiding water trips and hiking paddling 9 years ago in the British Canoeing system, today I am a qualified canoe and sea kayak coach, kayak and canoe trip leader on rapid rivers. Perhaps more important than skill in going through highly technical elements, I consider interest and skill in working with people. I find working with people outdoors to be one of the most challenging and fascinating, because this environment always presents its own challenges. We all have different reasons for feeling uncomfortable, fears and ways of learning and feeling safe. This is the place where I can point the light to the right place and support it. One of the biggest challenges in my life, which I have chosen for myself many years ago, was moving from the center of Tallinn to the most sparsely populated place in Estonia, Soomaa. In addition to the activities of Sea Kayaking Estonia, I am a big fan of skiing and snow. During the last winters, while residing in Haanja, I have felt how moving on skis - both on a ski trail, on a mountain slope and directly through the slopes, over hills and lakes - connects me to my homeland and relieves the urge to flee to the South Sea. Also, cold, low light and doing well in this environment offer opportunities to get to know yourself better and feel free and happy.

I am Helen Kari - hiking guide, nature study tour guide and hiking tour guide. My life has been a continuous series of pushing boundaries and testing courage - from an early age I have decided to accept challenges and tried to build my own reality, sometimes taking completely illogical steps in the eyes of others. By now, the network of like-minded people is wider and it is more daring to dream bigger - I have created a home in the countryside, which is often open to guests, trainings on a way of life close to nature and other curious people - courage calls for more courage! Active activities in nature have been saviors for my mental health. I especially love water and everything related to it - sometimes it's enough to just be near the sea or running water, but it's even better to physically exert yourself near it so that the mind can rest. I am happy to offer it to hikers as well. In addition to my work as a hiking guide, which takes me from Estonian bogs, lakes and small islands to Teravmäge and Nepal, I am also a Master of Social Sciences, and the well-being of people - which is in harmony with the well-being of the environment and nature - is my great passion and mission. I really want people to dare to take similar steps outside of their safety and comfort, to see that they are capable of more and that they are stronger than they think. Years of working with people in nature have proven that timely hand-holding, personal approach to people's needs and creating a safe space, no matter where in the world or in Estonia, helps people find themselves and be happier. I have realized that this is my superpower - I know, feel and help mediate the therapeutic effect of movement in nature!
